Getting Back On The Wagon With a Fish Curry

What do you start blogging about, suddenly, when you fell off the wagon a long time ago?
Your day? Your hobby? Job? Food?
Seems easy enough - not much to think about, your dish is cooked, the recipe is there, you took the mandatory picture hurriedly, just in case.....
So, I'll jump right in with a short post about one of my favourite foods, I guess.

Mom's Fish Curry
One of my favorite comfort foods has been fish curry and rice. Not just any curry but the one my Mom makes. This one is definitely best served with rice.

Here's a simple 'how-to' for it:

This is just the process with an approximation of the ingredients so, please, read at your own risk. This comes as just a reference.

For about 6-7 pieces:
Coat the fish pieces with turmeric powder and salt and keep aside for about an hour.
Heat some oil (mustard, preferably) and deep fry the pieces. Place on paper towels.

In another pan, heat up a few teaspoons of oil and add some kalonji or nigella seeds (or onion seeds) to it. Add 2 chopped onions and garlic and fry for a while. Add a paste of one grated onion + red chillies + 2 tsp mustard seeds. Add salt to taste.

Fry these till the mix leaves oil. Add a cup of water along with the fish pieces and cook till the gravy thickens. Garnish with coriander/dhania leaves.Serve hot with plain rice.
