Fabric and paints and block printing......

My endeavours in block-printing....these wooden blocks have mostly been scoured from Rajasthan (a state in  Western India) and Delhi. As you will see from the pictures the blocks are pretty old and have been put to use quite often...
You can find a detailed write up here now......

  1. Oh so pretty! Hadn't seen this post. How much do these blocks cost? And do you know if they can create blocks with custom designs? And what kind of color do you use to print? Do you know if these are available in Bangalore? I want I want! Have to get in touch with my Rajasthani friends right now.

  2. Thanks Vinita!!
I've collected these blocks over the years from Jaipur, Rajasthan and Delhi. The smaller 1" ones cost me anything from Rs 30-70, the larger 4"x3" ones Rs 250-450. Not too sure if they customize them.
The colors are called industrial dyes. Initially we had to mix in all ingredients but now the ready-mixes are available where you just need to add in the dye.
In Bangalore try Devi and Sons, Ibrahim St, Off Commercial St. Last time I asked his supply of blocks hadn't been replenished, but you can try your luck...:)
