Caramel popcorn

Tried making some caramel popcorn the other day.....

Heated together some 75gms butter with 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4th  cup honey till the sugar dissolved. Then let it boil unstirred till it was a nice golden brown. Poured over 3 cups of popped corn. Spread on a greased baking tray. Let it cool down and broke it into pieces again.

Yummy!!!!!!! Now for a good movie to go with it..:)

As an aside: I should have, probably, let it brown some more.

Golden Temple, Amritsar

Visited the Harmandir Sahib or the Golden Temple, Amritsar, as it is commonly known, last weekend.

 A little girl offering 'Seva' or selfless service with her grandmother by sweeping the floor .

A tip for travellers: When driving from Delhi to Amritsar via Karnal - Ambala - Jalandhar be sure to stop for a meal at Haveli, ( at Karnal or at Jalandhar) ... the yummiest vegetarian, Punjabi, finger-licking good food available at any time of the day.

Sikandra - Akbar's Mousoleum

Sikandra....

Akbar's tomb at Sikandra - a suburb of Agra, UP, on Mathura Road NH2 - is an architectural masterpiece worth visiting if you are in Agra to see the Taj.

Commissioned by Akbar himself, it was to be a perfect blend of Hindu, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist and Jain designs and motifs, bespeaking of his religious tolerance and secular views.

The visit here is hassle-free as compared to one at Taj which is the more popular destination for tourists. Lesser crowds, easy to buy tickets and more time to look around - the bonus is you can buy your tickets for the Taj here at Sikandra (but this is possible only if you are driving into Agra from New Delhi/ Mathura). This saves you standing in long queues at the ticket counters at the Taj.

On the inside......

The cenotaph......as per tradition the true tomb is in the basement.

This monument also houses the tombs of Shakrul Nisha Begum and Aram Bano, the daughters of Akbar.
